I’ve become accustomed to a new life of waking up earlier, and consequently, it’s affected my morning routine for the better. Before my mornings were rushed, frantic, and on the brink of running late. My new morning routine is much more enjoyable!
7am – Wake up and roll out of bed
Now an early morning riser, 7am starts are something I’m quite used to. It doesn’t always make them easy though!
First things first, say good morning to the pup. Although he has been taking up most of the room all morning, so it’s more like hello again. He’s doing well with his new morning routine himself, which involves sneaking into my bed around 5:45am and burrowing on my head when he wants his breakfast at 7…
So in all honesty, my initial wake up time varies anywhere from 7am-8am. If it’s the latter, my morning will be a tad more rushed! This morning routine follows my planned schedule from 7am onwards – starting with waking up and rolling out of bed.
7:15am – It’s a puppy takeover
First things first, we have to keep those precious pooches happy. That includes letting them out to the toilet, and getting their breakfast ready. Bertie is at peak excitement levels in the morning, I don’t know how he does it.
That includes a quick zoomies before sitting in his crate practically shaking with excitement. I don’t understand how a puppy can love the same breakfast and dinner so much, but it’s pretty sweet.
7:30am – Always start the day with a tidy bed
Well as I just prefaced, my day typically starts sorting the dogs out, and making sure they’re fed and happy. But the day doesn’t really start until the bed’s made.
Tidy room, tidy mind! Does anyone else just get on so much better with the day knowing they’ve got a well-made bed to come back to? It really sets up my day for a more positive outlook, knowing it’s one less thing to worry about. I know I’ve gone into the office before not worrying about making my bed, and it’s been sat at the back of my mind, irritating me all day. When it comes to ensuring a productive day at work, it’s just one less thing to worry about!
7:40am – Time to shower and get fresh-faced
When’s the best time to shower? In the morning or in the night? For the most part, in the morning. On a self-care Friday, in the evening! But that’s getting off track, and a nighttime routine is a topic for another blog post.
Morning showers are a must for a good start to the day, helping to wake me up and ready to tackle whatever’s coming. Doing my skincare is also one of my favourite parts of the day. Having perfected my skincare routine I’m seeing clearer skin every day – no wonder I’m still being asked for ID…
My everyday essentials consists of Simple soothing facial toner, Glossier super glow Serum, Simple hydrating light moisturiser, and La Roche-Posay SPF – in that order. And yes, SPF is an essential for every day, even in the winter!
8:20am – Morning coffee is a must
No better way to start the day than with an iced oat latte! Although the morning shower is a great way to help wake up, it’s not always effective. It’s true what they say, coffee saves the day.
However, after quickly becoming accustomed to an iced latte every morning, a day without coffee often gives me a headache. It might be time to rethink my morning beverage, and opt for something with less caffeine.
On the other hand, I have been getting a lot better at drinking more water, which can also be seen in my improved skin and feeling more energised.
8:30am – Ready for the work day to begin
At 8:30am I’m sat down and ready for work. But not every work morning starts at 8:30, and it doesn’t always start at home either. That’s why it’s important to note that this morning routine is always subject to change, but this covers the basis!
I’ve tried something a bit different with this blog, as an attempt at working towards incorporating more lifestyle content. In doing so, I’ve also created some new TikTok videos to go hand-in-hand with this lifestyle work. It may work out, it may not! We’ll see. If you’re interested, check it out!
